Panda Journeys is operated by 成都光大国际旅行社 (Chengdu Everbright International Travel Service Co., Ltd), a fully licensed China travel agency founded in 1985. That's over 40 years — before the internet, before Chengdu's first subway line, before most of the hotels we now book even existed.
We started as a small family operation specializing in domestic group tours. Over four decades, we've evolved into a premier private travel agency serving international travelers — couples, families, solo adventurers, and corporate groups — who want to experience Sichuan and China beyond the postcard.
What sets us apart: We don't sell pre-packaged tours. Every itinerary is built from scratch — around your dates, your interests, your pace. Our local guides grew up here. They know which teahouse has the best gaiwan, which road avoids the tourist buses, and which restaurant the locals actually recommend.
What "Bonded & Insured" Means for You
Under Chinese tourism law, every licensed travel agency must maintain a government-regulated bond (质量保证金) — a deposit held by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) to protect travelers.
In practical terms: if anything goes wrong, you're protected. This is not a voluntary insurance policy we chose to buy. It's a mandatory government requirement that we've maintained without interruption since 1985. You're booking with a bonded, insured, government-supervised agency — not a middleman, not an online broker, not an unlicensed operator.
